Beowulf and Gilgamesh are Epic Heroes But the Seafarer isn’t and Here’s Why

In the accounts â€Å"Beowulf† and â€Å"The Head of Humbaba,† the fundamental characters mirror the depictions of a â€Å"epic hero†. Anyway in the story, â€Å"The Seafarer,† the fundamental character doesn't mirror any portrayals of a â€Å"epic saint. † Beowulf and Gilgamesh fit the depiction since the two of them go on a mission and have the comparable inspirations of an epic legend. The Seafarer, interestingly, had an alternate inspiration and a completely unique journey. Beowulf and Gilgamesh have ventures that fit the customary epic saint. In Beowulf’s story, his excursion comprised of executing beasts. He executed Grendel who threatened Herot. â€Å"Beowulf, a ruler of the Geats, had slaughtered Grendel†¦from the rafters where Beowulf had hung it, was the monster’s arm, hook and shoulder what not. † (â€Å"Beowulf† Lines 510-517). Gilgamesh’s story additionally included killing massive beasts. He murdered Humbaba, the watchman of the woods. †Ã¢â‚¬ ¦he raised his hatchet up higher and swung it in an ideal curve into Humbaba’s neck. (â€Å"The Head of Humbaba† Lines 46-48) Gilgamesh and Beowulf likewise had comparative inspirations that fit a â€Å"epic saint. † Beowulf murdered Grendel to take care of the obligation to Herot due to his dad. Gilgamesh incited and executed Humbaba so he’d additionally be will known. The two reasons fit the portrayals for an epic saint. Interestingly, the Seafarer doesn’t fit a â€Å"epic hero† on the grounds that his excursion and inspiration doesn’t compare. The Seafarer’s venture was to just venture to every part of the ocean. His inspiration was to make harmony with God. Neither of those activities makes the Seafarer and â€Å"epic saint. † Beowulf and Gilgamesh are epic legends in light of the fact that their excursion and inspirations fit what an epic saint depend on. The two of them battled beasts and both their inspiration fit an epic saint. The sailor isn’t an epic legend since his excursion and inspiration doesn’t relate to one. He didn’t achieve a lot and his inspiration didn’t fit an epic saint.
